Maker-Mends Ltd is a Jewellery and Watch service provider, we service various luxury jewellery and watch brands and carry out volume repairs for large multiple jewellers and TV channels. We work with buying groups who offer our services to their independent jewellers. We co-operate with designers and jewellery buyers to help them manufacture or purchase merchandisable products. We are an approved OMEGA Service Support centre.
David Lewis, the founder of Maker-Mends Ltd, started in the Jewellery Trade in 1974 as an apprentice diamond mounter in London's Hatton Garden with the well established jewellery manufacturer J.H.Lucas. After five years, in September 1979 he started his first workshop in Clerkenwell, London. Gradually the business expanded and now after over 42 years Maker-Mends Ltd is the largest service provider for the industry in Europe, servicing over 1000 retail outlets. More recently, because of his vast experience and knowledge of the Jewellery Trade, David was invited by the NAJ to participate in their Education Steering Committee to advise on updating the NAJ Jet1 and Jet2 courses. He is also a consultant with the NAJ's Better Business Group which focuses on guiding small to medium size businesses. David has also been a guest speaker for the RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council).
Maker-Mends Ltd is located in a 7,500sq foot purpose built building. Contained on two levels are workshops, offices, an engraving department, large polishing room, separate setting room, a fully equipped watch workshop and separate quality control area. We have facilities to help with the training of your staff and encourage workshop visits. We produce training manuals, videos and other educational media.
Maker-Mends Ltd own a bespoke jewellery workshop in Thailand which employs over 30 staff who create beautiful pieces of jewellery to an incredibly high standard. Here we make single pieces of high quality jewellery or small production runs in any metal. This facility has expanded our customer base to all the 5 continents.
Maker-Mends Ltd and Maker-Mends Thailand are Certified Members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
In September 2012 David was recognised by the industry in the HOT 100 awards ceremony.
In December 2015 Maker-Mends Ltd was voted Service Supplier of the Year at the first award ceremony of the newly formed National Association of Jewellers
In June 2016 Maker-Mends was voted Supplier of the Year at the Retail Jeweller, UK Jewellery Awards.
