Earrings- There are several styles, drops, sleepers, studs, clip on's and creoles which have different
fittings. In most instances it is the fitting that wears out or breaks. If your customer has lost one of a pair of earrings, we can offer a bespoke service to recreate the missing earring. We can make earrings to your design specifications.
Drop Earrings- The
weak spot are the eyelets that form the drop, these can wear. Depending
on the type of earring i.e. whether or not they are stone set, these
can usually be rebuilt. If one has worn and broken it is likely
that the others are worn as well and will need to be rebuilt.
Stud Earrings- The stem breaks away from the earring and as
before, depending on whether or not it is stone set, these can either be repaired or replaced.
Screw on Studs/ Threaded Fitting- Sometimes the screw thread or the screw on butterfly can wear, if so these need to be replaced. If the stem breaks off but is not worn this can be resoldered. Screw on fittings can be added to any stud earring for extra security.
Creole earrings- There are several parts that can break, the hinge, clip, the rivets or the earwire. These can all be replaced or repaired.
Continental Fitting- There are several parts that can break, the hinge, clip, the rivets or the earwire. These can all be replaced or repaired.
Clip On Earrings- The weak area is the clip, this can loosen or become detached from the earring. It is possible to tighten the clip, however sometimes it is necessary to replace the clip and we advise that both clips are replaced so that they match.
Conversion- Where the design and metal type are suitable we can convert earring fittings from clip to pierced and vice versa. Earring can be sent to us for assessment and an estimate.
